Moscow-City is an ambitious project, the implementation of which began in the late 1990s. Before the construction of this modern business complex, the territory on which it is located was an industrial zone, historically formed to the west of the center of Moscow, in the area of Presnenskaya Embankment.

This area had the following characteristics:

  • Industrial facilities: Much of the area was occupied by manufacturing and storage facilities, including old factories and power plants that were built during the Soviet Union.

  • Unfinished and Abandoned Buildings: Some areas of the site contained unfinished structures and buildings that had been started but not completed for various reasons.

  • Residential Buildings: The site also contained old residential buildings, many of which were dilapidated and in need of renovation or demolition.

  • Wastelands and unused land: Between industrial facilities and residential buildings there were wastelands and land plots not used for economic activity.

The Moscow-City project was aimed at transforming this industrial zone into a modern business district capable of competing with the world's leading financial centers. The project included the demolition of old buildings, cleaning the area of industrial pollution, and creating from scratch the infrastructure necessary for the functioning of an international business center. Today, Moscow-City is one of the symbols of modern Moscow, demonstrating the achievements of Russian architecture and urban development.
