In a recent creative approach to promotion, BMW Japan has brought a fresh twist to the advertising landscape by using the striking skyline of Moscow's business district as the backdrop for its fresh advertising campaign to showcase modified versions of the 3 Series, namely the 318i and 320d X-Drive models, presented in limited-edition Shadow Editions. A breathtaking view of Moscow's architectural icons, such as the Empire , Evolution, and Capital City towers , serves as the backdrop for this unique campaign.
The unusual move involved placing an ad on Instagram on February 15, despite restrictions imposed on the platform's owner, Meta, in the Russian Federation. This occurred against the backdrop of BMW suspending sales of its cars in the Russian market starting in the spring of 2022 and further discontinuing certain mobile services for Russian users next year, although no official announcement of a complete exit from the market has been made.
Underscoring its solidarity with Germany's sanctions policy against Russia, BMW announced its decision to halt local production and export of new vehicles to Russia, noting this as an inevitable consequence of current geopolitical trends.
The special feature of the advertised 3 Series models in the special Shadow Edition series is their design with a predominance of dark shades, which distinguishes them from the standard models and gives them the exclusive name "Shadow Series".
