According to one of Moscow's deputy mayors, construction of the bridge across the Moskva River , which will connect its right bank and the Moscow-City site, is nearing completion. The construction of the structure, which is part of the SDKP (the northern bypass of Kutuzovsky Avenue), is already 80% complete.
V. Efimov, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, emphasized that the project will be a key component of the soon-to-be completed highway. He shared some important information with visitors to the city government portal: "Construction of the SDKP is underway along the entire length of the future highway. The opening of the highway, which will be a toll road, is scheduled for late 2023. Work on the bridge crossing the Moscow River in close proximity to the international business center will be completed very soon."
A representative of the city authorities also reported that construction workers are currently pouring concrete for the parapet on the bridge itself and at the point where traffic descends onto Presnenskaya Embankment. The work is expected to be completed by August of this year.
Deputy Mayor for Transport M. Liksutov stated that the aforementioned alternate highway will provide an additional connection between the Third Ring Road (TTK) and the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD). Furthermore, Moscow authorities intend to make the western part of the metropolis, home to at least 800,000 people, more accessible by transport.
Liksutov explained: "The new project will allow drivers to save at least 6-7 minutes when traveling along Kutuzovsky Prospekt, Mozhayskoye Highway, and Rublevskoye Highway. The volume of traffic will be redistributed, speeding up travel on these public transport routes by at least 15-20%."
Previously, S. Sobyanin announced that the SDKP would be built by 2023. The mayor of the capital clarified that the project plans to build at least 20 km of roads, a third of which will consist of overpasses, bridges, etc.
The mayor noted the many advantages that the opening of the Northern Alternate Road will bring. For example, getting from the Moscow Ring Road to the Moscow-City International Business Center will now take at least eight minutes, up from the previous half-hour.
Work on the Northern Bypass of Kutuzovsky Prospekt began in 2019. The future six-lane highway will run from Moscow-City and the Third Transport Ring to the junction of the Moscow Ring Road and Molodogvardeyskaya Street, after which it will head to the Northern Bypass of Odintsovo in the Moscow Region.
