The first cubic meter of concrete has already been ceremoniously poured for the foundation of the promising iCity complex. A total of over 135,000 cubic meters of concrete will be required for its construction. This was announced by the project's developer, MR Group, a well-known figure in the Moscow real estate market. The company, managed by R. Timokhin and V. Labuzdko, already has approximately 7 million square meters of real estate in its portfolio, and iCity will soon add another 230,000 square meters to its portfolio. The complex is scheduled to open in 2024.
As a reminder, iCity is a high-tech Class A business center under construction in close proximity to Moscow City. It will comprise two towers: the 61-story Time Tower and the 34-story Space Tower. They will be located on a single 8-story stylobate. The skyscrapers were designed with "smart architecture" in mind, emphasizing not only high energy efficiency but also intelligent engineering systems and full automation. To reduce resource consumption, they will be equipped with:
- glass with a reduced heat transfer coefficient;
- a system that reduces water consumption;
- LED lamps.
iCity's energy efficiency is optimized through the use of digital energy modeling. This is expected to reduce energy consumption by 25%.
VTB Bank is providing financial support for the project, and Renaissance Construction has been selected as the general contractor.
Kermen Mestiev, representing MR Group, called iCity the largest office project underway in Russia at the ceremony marking the pouring of the first cubic meter of concrete. He also emphasized that the start of monolithic work is a significant event for the company.
He was echoed by VTB Bank Senior Vice President D. Snesar, who expressed confidence that iCity will become one of Moscow's most successful and iconic projects, and will become its new calling card. He also noted that VTB has been collaborating with MR Group for many years, and together they have successfully completed numerous projects.
