The long-vacant platinum apartment on the 92nd floor of the Vostok skyscraper was sold for 350 million rubles, which at the current exchange rate is almost $5 million. The owner of the luxury apartment and their occupation are not disclosed.
Platinum apartments are the highest category of real estate , second only to penthouses in terms of height. They feature ceilings up to 5.5 meters high, and windows overlooking the Kremlin. Such apartments are rare not only in Moscow City but throughout the capital, so prices per square meter can reach 1 million rubles or more.
Demand for high-rise apartments and penthouses has recently increased, which analysts attribute to some buyers "exiting foreign currency" and the need to invest in domestic properties. The 350 million ruble price tag for a lot on the 92nd floor of the Federation Tower is considered reasonable, as the market for such properties in the City is quite limited.
According to the Federation press service, 5,100 square meters of space were sold in the complex during the first six months of 2020. Sixty-six millionaires became the new owners of this luxury property, paying a total of 2.84 billion rubles, or an average of 555,000 rubles per square meter. The press service also noted that demand was highest in the second quarter, despite the average price increasing by 11% to 48 million rubles. Thirty-five lots were sold during this period alone, compared to 31 in the first quarter.
