Following the opening of the Northern Bypass of Kutuzovsky Prospekt in the Russian capital, a traffic-light-free section will be created, connecting the Moscow International Business Center "Moscow City" with the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD). This distance can be covered in an average of seven minutes, with pre-paid fare. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced this on his VK social media account.
According to the Moscow mayor, the 11-kilometer toll highway section under construction includes 12 traffic flow interchanges, as well as a bridge across the Moskva River. The highway begins at the Molodogvardeyskaya interchange of the Moscow Ring Road and runs parallel to the Smolensk-bound railway to the Third Ring Road and the Shelepikhinskaya Embankment.
The commissioning of this section will reduce traffic on several city thoroughfares—Marshal Zhukov Avenue, Kutuzovsky Prospekt, Zvenigorodskoye Highway, and Mozhayskoye Highway. At the same time, traffic conditions in the western part of the city will improve.
