The construction of a new bridge in the Moscow City district is rapidly progressing in Russia's capital. According to the city administration, headed by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the large-scale construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. This strategically important structure is designed to connect the Filevsky Park and Khoroshevo-Mnevniki districts, spanning the Moskva River.
Launched in January 2023, the bridge's construction is part of a broader effort to modernize the city's infrastructure. The project's core component includes a 315-meter-long, six-lane bridge, three overpasses, and four ramps. This will not only strengthen connections between key areas of the city but also significantly simplify transportation for the local residents, whose combined population exceeds half a million.
Alexey Krapivin, CEO of JSC "Roads and Bridges," emphasized that the work is proceeding according to the approved schedule and is expected to be completed on time. The project is being implemented with financial support from the Moscow Targeted Investment Program, involving over 150 specialists and over 20 units of specialized equipment.
The project not only connects key areas but also significantly reduces travel times for vehicles and eases congestion on the city's key arteries. Additionally, the project includes the construction of 2.1 kilometers of roads, including a bridge crossing and three overpasses.
Since 2011, 31 bridges have been built in Moscow across the Moskva River and other bodies of water, with seven more bridge projects in the design stage. The new bridge in the Big City area will be an important part of the ongoing transformation of the Moscow metropolis's transportation network.
