Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced an ambitious plan to develop road infrastructure in the "Big City" project. This plan calls for the construction of over 40 kilometers of new roads, which will become part of the district's main and local transportation network in the coming years.
Construction observations
Sobyanin inspected construction work in the Filevsky Park area, emphasizing the project's importance for improving accessibility and living conditions for Muscovites. Road construction is key to supporting the dynamic development of urban areas and business infrastructure.
Innovative road solutions
Bagration Avenue has already been opened as a toll road as part of the project's road system. Current work includes the construction of various road sections and utility structures. One of the key projects will be a traffic interchange connecting Bolshaya Filevskaya Street, Bagration Avenue, and the Third Ring Road, providing access to the Sber complex. This will improve transportation not only to the complex but also to the surrounding areas, home to approximately 300,000 people. Completion of construction is scheduled for this year.
Effects of new roads
New thoroughfares running along the Moskva River will connect key city arteries and provide convenient access to Bagration Avenue. This will allow residents of the Dorogomilovo, Filevsky Park, and Presnensky districts to save up to 21 minutes on their commute. An analysis by the Traffic Management Center shows that travel times will be reduced by 60% on Bolshaya Filevskaya Street, 50% on Barklaya Street, and 70% on Shelepikhinskaya Embankment.
Contribution to the development of the urban environment
On his Telegram channel, the mayor emphasized that the active construction of neighborhoods and embankments on former industrial zones requires a corresponding development of the road network. This is necessary to maintain a high level of urban comfort and accessibility in the "Big City" area.
