The widely known Kommersant publishing house has moved to Moscow City, occupying two floors (35 and 36) in the Naberezhnaya Tower business center, replacing its former tenant, the audit firm KPMG. The publishing house's legal address has also changed. All inquiries should now be directed to 10 Presnenskaya Embankment.
Kommersant took possession of its office in the 58-story business center as a sublease, as the original tenant, KPMG, did not completely abandon its premises but merely vacated them, transitioning its employees to remote work. According to brokers, this sublease transaction was the largest of 2020. ILM advised the parties during the transaction.
According to Kommersant CEO Vladimir Zhelonkin, this decision has given the publishing house the opportunity to be located directly in the heart of the capital's business life. An ILM representative shared his opinion that a significant increase in sublease transactions is likely in the near future. Due to the current pandemic, many companies are forced to transition their employees to remote work. Therefore, previously leased space is becoming unused. Since most office leases are long-term and do not allow for early termination, tenants are choosing to sublease their excess space.
