Moscow's skyscrapers are highly durable and will not collapse even if hit by an airliner.
This opinion was expressed by the capital's chief architect, Sergei Kuznetsov, following the incident with drones aimed at Moscow City.
Kuznetsov noted that the main threat to buildings is fire. "Even the Eurasia building, with its steel structure, won't collapse. However, a collision with an aircraft could cause a fire," he said.
The chief architect also defended the choice of the Moscow City location, arguing that the limestone foundation is reliable. He emphasized the high safety standards developed for Stalinist skyscrapers, giving them a tenfold safety margin.
"Stalin's skyscrapers are equipped with a steel frame, unlike many modern Moscow buildings with concrete frames—this is American technology, which can be less stable," Kuznetsov added.
