With the Moscow City area fully developed, developers are beginning to move into neighboring sites. One of the new projects promises to be the iCity complex, designed by renowned architect Helmut Jahn of the German firm JAHN Architecture. According to his design, the complex will feature two towers of different heights, each adorned with red stripes on its sides, widening toward the center. The Russian firm TPO Pride has been tasked with bringing the project to life.
iCity will be integrated into the City transport hub. It will connect the Mezhdunarodnaya metro station, the metro stations of the same name, and the Delovoy Tsentr Moscow Central Circle (MCC), as well as public transport stops.
The two towers are planned to be connected by a common stylobate, and their architecture will share similarities with the skyscrapers located within the business center. Underground parking will be located beneath the complex. The towers are planned to be divided into offices, coworking spaces, exhibition spaces, and commercial premises for cafes, shops, restaurants, and a fitness center with a swimming pool. Part of the facades will feature a special frit layer, which will prevent the air inside the buildings from overheating without affecting the transparency of the panoramic windows.
As Moscow's chief architect, S. Kuznetsov, shared, creating color accents is typical of Helmut Jahn. He previously used a similar approach when designing Veer Towers in Las Vegas (USA). While he used yellow accents in that project, he chose red for Moscow. Similar color accents will be present not only on the skyscrapers' façades but also throughout the building's interiors. He stated that the new public and business center is an example of well-thought-out architecture and a high-quality selection of energy-efficient solutions, which will ensure a high level of comfort for the towers' residents.
