Description

Tower 2000 is the first and only tower of the Moscow-City International Business Center built according to the design of B. Thor. Its height is 130 m, which corresponds to 34 floors. It is located on the 0th plot of land allocated for the business complex and has become a natural continuation of the Bagration Bridge, since it is directly connected to its vestibule. Unlike other skyscrapers, Tower 2000 is located on the Right Bank of the Moskva River at 23a Tarasa Shevchenko Embankment.

History of the tower

The idea of creating "Moscow City" belongs to the architect Boris Ivanovich Thor. It was he who proposed to the city authorities to build a grand complex of skyscrapers on the left bank of the Moskva River and connect it with the opposite majestic 2-level pedestrian bridge, combined with the relatively small "Tower 2000". He designed a detailed plan for the future development, which was approved and accepted for implementation.

The construction of the "Tower 2000" was entrusted to the company "Mabetex". It began simultaneously with the construction of the Bagration Bridge and lasted from 1996 to 2001. But in 1997, the work was suspended, although the bridge was already completed. This is due to the death of the head of the "Reforma" foundation, which was supposed to occupy the tower's offices, S. Shatalin. The default that followed the following year did not add to the optimism.

Therefore, to prevent the project from suffocating before it even began, the city authorities decided to buy out all the rights to the building and attract investors by selling off individual floors to different companies. The plan worked. The new contractor was Promstroy-tekhnoinvest LLC, which successfully completed the project.

By the time the building was put into operation, 14 of the 27 floors put up for sale had been sold. The rest of the skyscraper belonged to the state company Miosor. It was also the management company. But in 2004, Miosor's shares were transferred to the company Dekra.

In 2005, the owner of Stroygazconsulting, Ziyad Manasir, became interested in the project and purchased the first offices in Tower 2000. By 2016, he became the largest owner of the building, consistently buying up space, including from the co-owner of Seventh Continent, A. Zanadvorov. Now he owns more than half of all the skyscraper's offices. The latter only owns 6 floors, a parking lot, and restaurants. The remaining 7 floors are divided between different owners.

About 100 million dollars of investments were invested in the first skyscraper "Moscow-City". Management and operation of the building is managed by OOO "Mkapital".

Construction Features

"Tower 2000" was created in a futuristic, postmodern style. The only hitch in its construction occurred in 1997, when the project had to be frozen. But soon the financial problems were resolved, and construction was quickly completed.

The tower is rated Class A, indicating that it meets the highest international standards. It has a mixed layout, allowing tenants to choose the most convenient option for themselves. And since its façade is finished with structured granite, the developer managed to achieve a deep sky-blue hue.

The composition of Tower 2000 and its current state

"Tower 2000" is an office skyscraper, which also has a well-developed infrastructure. Its total area is 60,000 sq. m, of which 46,000 sq. m are offices and 500 sq. m are infrastructure facilities.

Today the building is almost completely occupied. Its territory houses:

  • offices of numerous well-known companies (Stroygazconsulting, Finhelp24, Unilux, Centerstroy, etc.);

  • restaurants and cafes;

  • conference halls and banquet halls;

  • banks and ATMs (Finservice, Bystrobank);

  • event agencies;

  • beauty salons;

  • parcel terminals, etc.

Tower 200 is equipped with underground parking for 300 cars and above-ground parking for up to 100 cars.

Interesting facts

According to historical data, there was a fairly large cemetery and the Church of St. Elizabeth along the right bank of the Moskva River. It was closed a few years after the end of the Great Patriotic War and subsequently completely built up. According to some assumptions, "Tower 2000" stands on the site of the destroyed church.

Its windows offer an excellent view of the main part of Moscow City. It was under the walls of Tower 2000 that many scenes from the TV series Not Born Beautiful and other films were filmed.
