The traffic pattern on Bagration Avenue has been changed, reducing the travel distance for drivers exiting the Moscow International Business Center "Moscow-City." This was reported by the press service of the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development.
What has changed?
Previously, drivers leaving Moscow-City had to detour via Shelepikhinskaya Embankment or Zvenigorodskoye Highway to reach Bagration Avenue. This route was less convenient and increased travel time, especially during rush hour, creating additional congestion at key interchanges and roads.
Now, at the Third Transport Ring (TTK) interchange, after the U-turn, a new exit has been created directly onto Bagration Avenue. This shortens the distance from Moscow's business hub to the avenue by almost one kilometer.
Improving conditions for drivers
To implement the new route, road markings were changed and traffic management along the Third Ring Road exit was revised. Importantly, this change was designed to improve accessibility to Moscow City, a major business hub in the capital, attracting both office workers and numerous visitors.
Furthermore, this change should reduce congestion on Zvenigorodskoye Highway and Shelepikhinskaya Embankment, where heavy traffic flow from the business center frequently caused congestion. Rerouting some of this traffic through the new ramp will ease traffic flow along these sections.
Additional measures to improve the transport situation
Along with the introduction of the new layout on Bagration Avenue, the department also plans to implement a number of additional measures to improve traffic conditions in the Moscow-City area. Specifically, they are considering widening some road sections and creating additional parking zones to avoid congestion caused by parked vehicles.
There are plans to implement intelligent transportation systems (ITS) that will manage traffic flows in real time, automatically adjusting traffic lights and suggesting optimal routes to drivers. This could significantly improve road capacity in the area, especially during peak traffic hours.
Expert comments
Transport logistics experts support this initiative, noting that shortening routes, particularly in key business districts, will have a positive impact on the city's overall transportation system. Increasing street capacity and reducing congestion will allow for faster freight delivery and improve comfort for all road users.
Thus, the change in traffic patterns on Bagration Avenue is a step toward optimizing the capital's transport infrastructure and improving traffic conditions in one of Moscow's most heavily congested areas.
