imToken

imToken is a non-custodial mobile crypto wallet for Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, TON, and other blockchains. With a single app, you can manage BTC, ETH, TRX, USDT, and tokens on EVM networks, as well as connect to decentralized applications. Private keys and the recovery phrase are under the owner’s control. Funds are stored at blockchain addresses, not in the service’s general balance.

Which networks and cryptocurrencies does imToken support?

imToken supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, TON, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Cosmos, Polkadot, Filecoin, Tezos, and other networks. For Ethereum, ERC-20 tokens and NFTs are available, and for TRON, TRX and TRC-10/TRC-20 assets are supported. The wallet supports EVM networks, including BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, and Avalanche, as well as Layer 2 solutions such as Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and zkSync Era.

Each blockchain uses its own account or network address. This is important when working with USDT: the ERC-20 USDT token on Ethereum and the TRC-20 USDT token on TRON are not interchangeable in a standard direct transfer. Before sending, you should select the network that matches the recipient’s address.

Key features of imToken:

  • storing and sending BTC, ETH, TRX, and other supported coins;
  • managing USDT across different blockchains;
  • importing and restoring addresses via a seed phrase, private key, or Keystore;
  • connecting to dApps and DeFi via the built-in interface;
  • exchanging supported tokens via Tokenlon;
  • integration with the imKey hardware wallet for added security.

Blockchain support does not imply that all financial services for that network are available. For example, you can store and transfer cryptocurrency, but you may not be able to convert it to the desired pair within the app.

imToken for USDT TRC-20 and ERC-20

USDT TRC-20 is often used for transfers on the TRON network. Sending a transaction may require Bandwidth and Energy resources or the deduction of TRX. On Ethereum, the fee for transferring USDT ERC-20 is paid in ETH. The amount depends on network congestion and transaction parameters. On other types of EVM networks, their native gas token is used.

A wallet helps you manage tokens and add compatible assets using the contract address. However, manually adding a token does not prove its authenticity: fraudulent contracts can copy the name, symbol, or logo of a well-known cryptocurrency. You should verify that the token’s address matches a verified contract and avoid signing suspicious dApp permissions.

Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Tokenlon

In the Market section, imToken is launching Tokenlon—a third-party decentralized exchange service. It supports tokens on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, Base, BNB Smart Chain, Optimism, and Unichain. Before the exchange, the terms for the specific pair, the exchange rate, and network fees are displayed. Blockchain fees and the transaction cost depend on the selected route, not on a single fixed imToken rate.

There is an important limitation: BTC from your own imToken Bitcoin wallet cannot be directly exchanged for USDT via a simple in-app transaction. Such a conversion requires a suitable external platform. Old instructions on exchanging BTC via cloned versions of Bitcoin or Tokenlon should not be used as a universal solution for individual users.

Keys, Security, and Recovery

imToken does not manage users’ private keys. Access to funds is restored via a recovery phrase, private key, or Keystore in a supported format. Losing your recovery data can render your funds inaccessible, and sharing your recovery phrase with a third party effectively transfers control of your coins to them.

For long-term storage of large amounts, you can use imKey—a compatible hardware device. With this option, critical transactions are confirmed separately from your regular phone. The mobile wallet itself remains software-based and does not become a cold wallet simply because the device has a password or biometric protection.

Before confirming a complex DeFi transaction, you should verify the contract, the network, the type of permission being signed, and the maximum amount the app is authorized to spend. You should be especially cautious with requests for unlimited approval of token spending.

Creating a Wallet and Withdrawing to a Bank Card

You do not need to open an exchange account to create a standard non-custodial address. However, purchasing cryptocurrency through third-party payment services may require identity verification and be subject to country-specific restrictions. imToken does not support direct withdrawals of cryptocurrency to a bank account or card: to sell, you’ll need an external service capable of processing fiat payments.

Users in Russia should check in advance which banking operations are available on their chosen external platform. The ability to hold USDT TRC-20 does not mean you can send rubles to a card directly from the imToken interface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I receive USDT TRC-20 on imToken?

Yes. imToken supports the TRON network and TRC-20 tokens. You’ll need the correct address to receive them, and TRON resources or TRX to send them later.

Is Bitcoin and TON supported?

Yes. imToken supports BTC and TON, along with Ethereum and EVM networks. Exchange capabilities vary by blockchain.

Can I exchange BTC for USDT directly within imToken?

No, direct, universal exchange of BTC from a Bitcoin wallet to USDT within the app is not supported. You’ll need to use a different platform for the conversion.

Can I withdraw funds to a Russian bank card?

No, imToken does not provide its own direct fiat withdrawal feature. Selling cryptocurrency and withdrawing funds to a card are handled through an external service.

Editor’s Opinion

imToken is of interest to users who regularly transfer USDT and hold assets across multiple networks. Support for TRON, Bitcoin, and EVM blockchains in a single mobile app reduces the need to switch between wallets. That said, the product’s strength lies in managing keys and blockchain transactions, rather than exchanging different coins. A separate service is required for purchases with a bank card and withdrawals in rubles. When choosing imToken, it’s worth familiarizing yourself in advance with the differences between ERC-20 and TRC-20, backup restoration, and verifying permissions for DeFi apps.
