KwikPAY

KWIKPAY offers a Russian prepaid virtual bank card based on the “Mir” payment system. The product is issued without a physical card and is intended for online purchases, money transfers, and transactions within the KWIKPAY payment infrastructure.

The card issuer is JSC CB “UNISTRIM,” a Russian bank licensed by the Bank of Russia under No. 3467. This distinguishes KWIKPAY from foreign intermediary services: the card is issued as a Russian bank payment instrument, and the terms of service are set forth in banking documents.

As of fall 2026:

  • Issuance is free;
  • maintenance—free;
  • payment system: “Mir”;
  • the card exists only in digital format;
  • registration is done via the KWIKPAY mobile app;
  • Identification is verified through the ESIA / Gosuslugi system;
  • Top-ups are available from accounts and cards at Russian banks;
  • card details are displayed in the app;
  • The issuance of new virtual cards is temporarily suspended due to technical difficulties.

The last point is particularly important. KWIKPAY continues to publish the product terms and fees, but a notice regarding technical difficulties with issuing new virtual cards has been posted in the app. New KWIKPAY virtual cards are temporarily not being issued due to technical difficulties. The date for resuming issuance has not been determined.

Once issuance resumes, the application process will be conducted entirely online. The customer installs the KWIKPAY app, registers, selects a card option, accepts the terms and conditions, and completes identity verification through the government system. No physical card is issued.

Top-ups are made in rubles. Two basic options are available:

  • a transfer within the KWIKPAY app from an account at another Russian bank;
  • a transfer using the card number via a third-party bank’s app.

For users, this is more convenient than methods that require first purchasing USDT or transferring money to a foreign bank. The card balance is in rubles, so there is no separate currency conversion for regular transactions in Russia.

KWIKPAY also positions the card as a tool for international money transfers through its service. When paying for a transfer with a KWIKPAY card, no additional third-party bank fee is charged under this card program.

However, the “Mir” card is not an international Visa or Mastercard. It is not suitable as a universal card for direct payments on foreign websites that accept only international payment systems. International transactions within the KWIKPAY ecosystem and direct card payments on foreign websites operate under different mechanisms.

The virtual card is convenient for online shopping. You can view the card details in the app and block the card if necessary. Since this is a prepaid product, transactions are limited to the amount of electronic funds previously loaded onto the card.

Fees for specific transactions depend on the current fee schedule. The current KWIKPAY fee schedule is effective as of March 16, 2026. Before making a transfer or other fee-based transaction, you should check the specific terms of the fee schedule rather than relying solely on the fact that the card is issued and maintained free of charge.

KWIKPAY advertises savings of up to 5% when paying for money transfers with its card. This is not a universal 5% cashback or a guaranteed discount on every transfer, but rather a comparison with potential additional fees charged by third-party banks. The amount saved depends on the selected destination and payment method.

Editor’s Opinion

KWIKPAY is one of the most straightforward products on the list in terms of its legal structure: it features a Russian issuing bank, standard banking terms, the “Mir” payment system, and identity verification through Gosuslugi. Free issuance and maintenance may be useful for payments in rubles and transfers via KWIKPAY once issuance resumes. However, when it comes to international virtual cards, it should be considered separately: it is not an international Visa or Mastercard and is not a direct solution for paying for most foreign subscriptions. The main factor as of November 2026 is temporary technical difficulties with issuing new cards. While this restriction is in effect, the product still exists, but new customers may not always be able to apply for it.
