PayWithMoon: Virtual Visa Cards for Cryptocurrency - Terms and Conditions
PayWithMoon
PayWithMoon, or Moon, allows users to purchase virtual Visa cards with cryptocurrency. The cards are denominated in U.S. dollars and are primarily intended for online purchases. Users can pay for products using Bitcoin, USDT, USDC, and other supported assets without needing a separate Moon bank account.
As of November 2026, the service offers two main types of virtual cards: Moon X and Moon 1X.
Moon X is a reloadable card linked to Moon Credit:
- the first card is issued free of charge;
- each additional Moon X card costs 2.99 USD;
- the purchase fee is 1%;
- the minimum transaction fee is 1 USD;
- Moon does not charge a separate FX fee;
- Validity period: 3 years;
- The default monthly spending limit on the cards is 4,000 USD;
- The card is accepted by many Visa merchants;
- Mobile wallets are not yet supported.
You can purchase Moon Credit using Bitcoin on-chain, Lightning, USDT on the Tron network, and USDC on the Polygon network. Once you top up Moon Credit, the funds become available on Moon X.
Moon 1X works differently. It is a one-time-reload prepaid card that is valid for two months after purchase:
- the issuance fee is 1.49 USD;
- there are no fees for regular purchases;
- minimum denomination: 5 USD;
- maximum denomination: 1,000 USD;
- the card can be loaded once and is valid for two months;
- It is primarily intended for purchases from supported U.S. merchants.
For recurring subscriptions, Moon X makes more sense, as it is valid for three years and is linked to your overall Moon Credit balance. For a single purchase, 1X may be cheaper due to the absence of a percentage-based payment fee.
Moon is not a crypto exchange in the traditional sense. Users send a supported cryptocurrency to purchase Moon Credit or a specific card, after which they spend the card’s dollar balance.
The service supports Bitcoin, Lightning, USDT TRC-20, and USDC Polygon. A network error during a cryptocurrency transfer can result in the loss of funds, so you should verify the address and network before sending.
Moon X works with millions of merchants in more than 130 countries where the corresponding Visa card is accepted; however, certain categories and merchants may be blocked. For some purchases, the service may require additional verification.
As of November 2026, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay are not supported by Moon X. Therefore, the product remains primarily a tool for online payments.
Refunds depend on the type of product. Moon Credit may be refunded after verification, but the refund is issued in Bitcoin, taking into account network and partner fees. Merchant gift cards and certain other products are non-refundable.
For users in Russia, it’s not just whether Visa is accepted that matters. Some international services may restrict accounts based on region, IP address, or country of residence. The card does not override the merchant’s own policies.
A significant difference concerns refunds. You can request a refund for unused Moon Credit; each case is reviewed individually, and the refund is issued in Bitcoin, minus any applicable network and partner fees. Moon 1X is non-refundable after purchase. In addition, a monthly limit of 4,000 USD applies to the total spending across all Moon cards in an account, rather than separately for each issued card number. These restrictions are particularly important for Moon 1X: the card cannot be reloaded or used as a long-term payment method.

Editor’s Opinion
PayWithMoon is particularly appealing to those who already hold BTC or USDT and want to quickly convert part of their cryptocurrency into a payment method. Moon X is convenient for regular expenses, while 1X is best for one-time purchases. The fees are fairly transparent, but the minimum fee of 1 USD makes Moon X expensive for small payments. The lack of Apple Pay and Google Pay also limits its use for in-person transactions. Its strength lies in a simple cryptocurrency model that bypasses intermediary exchanges and lengthy banking procedures. Moon 1X is more convenient for one-time purchases, while Moon X is better for recurring payments. In both cases, you should be aware of potential restrictions imposed by merchants and geographic locations.
