As part of the "Big City" project's large-scale transport infrastructure development and the further development of the capital's commercial core, the Moscow International Business Center, the new Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya metro line is under construction. It will connect the Presnya Financial Center, the western districts of Moscow, and Krasnogorsk, becoming a key component of the expanding urban agglomeration.
A New Development Axis: From Skyscrapers to the Moscow Region
The future line will depart from Moskovsky Station (near the IQ and Evolution towers), passing through the Mnevniki and Khoroshevo districts, before reaching Rublevo-Arkhangelskoye and finally Krasnogorsk. The line will be approximately 27 kilometers long and will have 12 planned stations, most of which will be interchange stations.
The project is a logical extension of the "Big City" transport hub, aiming to expand Moscow's commercial core beyond the existing Moscow International Business Center. The Rublev-Arkhangelskaya line will connect the ongoing construction zone (including future residential and commercial clusters) with existing commercial buildings, ensuring seamless logistics.
Construction Progress and Architecture
Currently, work is underway on the first section, from Sherepikha Station to General Karbysheva Avenue Station. A key project is Minoan Obolcheny Station, 60% of which is complete. This station will merge with the Grand Circle Line station of the same name and provide access to Demyanbedny Street and Marshal Zhukov Boulevard.
The platform architecture is designed in a modern industrial style, incorporating expressive elements: embossed metal panels, a vaulted ceiling with integrated lighting, and an urban aesthetic tailored to business travelers.
Impact on Traffic in Moscow and the Surrounding Area
Government estimates indicate that the new line will carry 250,000 passengers daily, a large proportion of whom will be residents and employees of the commercial center. Daily passenger traffic is expected to exceed 170,000 in the first few years after its opening in 2026. The line will become a major arterial route for the following directions:
-
Direct, no-transfer connections to Moscow from Krasnogorsk and Mnevniki.
-
Unloading of the Filevskaya Line and the Third Transport Ring Line;
-
Integration with the Moscow Central Ring Line, the Great Ring Line, the Soltsev Line, and the Arbatsk-Pokrovsk Line.
This creates a new level of transport connectivity, ensuring not only targeted passenger transport to the city but also connecting the entire "metropolitan" territory to the city and Moscow region networks.
Surrounding Infrastructure
The opening of the Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya railway will significantly boost the development of emerging industrial clusters in the Mnevnikovskaya region and the Northwestern and Western Administrative Districts. Residential complexes, office buildings, schools, and transport hubs are already under construction in the development zone. The railway will lay the foundation for the development of a mature commercial belt along the Moscow River, from the IQ District to Rublevo.

The Rublev-Arkhangelskaya line is more than just a means of transportation; it is the foundation for the sustainable development of Moscow's business cluster. Connecting downtown Moscow with residential and suburban centers will secure new jobs, develop service infrastructure, and accelerate the formation of a new urban axis—a "metropolis" with integrated logistics.
