Description
The Saint Petersburg Tower is one of the components of the Capital City multifunctional complex, built on the 9th plot of the Moscow-City International Business Center. Together with the Moscow Tower, it stands on a large stylobate and attracts the attention of guests and residents of Moscow with its original appearance and breathtaking height. The complex is located on Presnenskaya Embankment, 8, building 1 and is open to all comers.
History of construction
The project to create a modern business district, called "Moscow-City", was the brainchild of the famous Russian architect B. I. Thor. With his light hand, the project of a group of skyscrapers, located in a horseshoe around the park, began to be implemented. But over time, more and more changes were made to it, and as a result, in accordance with the original idea, only one building and a bridge were built.
The Capital City multifunctional complex and its Moscow and Saint Petersburg towers were not included in the initial Moscow-City project. Their construction began in 2003, but changes to the architectural design led to the work being stopped. Subsequently, the financial crisis thundered and the developer Capital Group faced the problem of a shortage of funds for construction.
Sberbank entered into the company's position and restructured the loan, and also allocated an additional credit line in the amount of 90 million dollars. Construction was resumed in 2005. As a result, more than 450 million dollars were invested in the construction of the facility.
The Turkish developer Ant Yapı Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi commissioned the City of Capitals multifunctional complex in 2009. Capital Group retained the right to remain the company responsible for the management and operation of the complex.
Construction Features
The Saint Petersburg Tower is a skyscraper, 257 m high. It has 65 floors. It is considered the 7th tallest building in the Moscow International Business Center. Like the Moscow Tower of the Capital City complex, it is designed as cubes of regular shape placed on top of each other. But the main highlight of the architectural solution lies in the "sloppiness" of the building, which consists of the edges of the cubes' faces hanging over each other.
Thus, Erick van Eeggeraat managed to implement the principle of the "air foundation" in the skyscraper. Therefore, the "Saint Petersburg" tower, built in a futuristic style, also reflects the features of the architectural style characteristic of Russian constructivism of the early 20th century.
The Saint Petersburg Tower is only 18 storeys behind the adjacent Moscow Tower. They both stand on a common stylobate, which contains shopping galleries and office premises. Thanks to the use of new construction technologies and high-quality materials, the building was assigned class A.
The comfort and safety of residents, as well as workers of the skyscraper, are ensured by:
-
modern ventilation and air conditioning system that cleans the air completely 10 times per hour;
-
24-hour video surveillance of the surrounding area;
-
fire alarm system linked to automatic fire extinguishing system and notification center;
-
security service responsible for maintaining order in the complex.
For glazing the panoramic windows of the tower, triplex mirror glass units made of impact-resistant glass were used, which, according to the results of crash tests, showed high resistance to both impacts from body parts and furniture. Thanks to the large glass surface, the energy efficiency of the skyscraper increases, since a large amount of natural light penetrates through the windows.
In general, the Moscow company Mosenergo is responsible for providing the Saint Petersburg tower with energy. Electricity distribution is carried out according to the 1st category, and transformer substations of 20/0.4 kV are installed in the building for this purpose.
The building has modern elevators that reach speeds of up to 7 m/s. And underneath it is a 6-level parking lot that can accommodate 2,213 cars. This number is due to the fact that when the parking project was being developed, the number of parking spaces was calculated based on the proportion of 1 per 60 sq. m.
The central entrance to the complex is located on the embankment itself and is presented in the form of a staircase with a waterfall. Such an original solution definitely attracts attention, and the immediate proximity to the water and the absence of buildings blocking the view makes the apartments with a view in the tower "Saint Petersburg" especially valuable and in demand.
The composition of the Saint Petersburg tower
The Saint Petersburg Tower is a premium-class residential building, in which apartments of different sizes and classes are located from the 19th to the 62nd floor. Not everyone can afford to buy them, only people with high incomes, since the minimum cost per square meter in the Saint Petersburg Tower is about 564 thousand rubles.
As already mentioned, the building has apartments of different classes, including:
-
DeLuxe;
-
Superior;
-
Grand;
-
Executive;
-
President.
But since the Saint Petersburg tower, like the entire Capital City complex, was commissioned back in 2009 and was initially positioned as an elite complex in the heart of the promising Moscow City business district, many considered it an excellent investment property. As a result, almost all apartments, as well as office space, have been sold out. Today, the real estate market has individual offers to buy, but more often to rent apartments in the Saint Petersburg tower, but not from the developer.
On the lower floors of the building, in the stylobate part, there are offices that are owned or rented by well-known domestic and foreign companies.
The complex has one of the most developed infrastructures in the entire Moscow City. Therefore, the Saint Petersburg tower can be called a vertical city, where you can not only live and work, but also have fun. You can stay within the walls of the complex for months and not need anything. Here are presented:
-
shops where you can buy any necessary goods;
-
cafes, restaurants, coffee shops;
-
bank branches, ATMs, terminals;
-
post offices;
-
fitness centers;
-
beauty salons;
-
notary offices;
-
spa centers;
-
medical clinics, etc.
Near the complex there is a multi-award winning mathematics lyceum, as well as 3 comprehensive schools and 2 kindergartens.
Interesting facts and features
The entire "City of Capitals" complex and, accordingly, the "Saint Petersburg" tower included in it did not go unnoticed by both domestic and international forums and competitions. It received high marks from experts for its aesthetic appearance and compatibility with the urban environment, and subsequently won the SkyscraperCity skyscraper popularity tournament, overtaking the widely known London skyscraper Mary Axe.
Until December 1, 2011, the neighbor of the "Saint Petersburg" tower "Moscow" was considered the tallest in the CIS. But it lost this title to another project completed that year on the territory of the MIBC - "Mercury City Tower".
