Drivers are expressing dissatisfaction with new regulations in the entry control system.
Since early September 2023, strict entry regulations have been introduced for taxi drivers in the Moscow City district. They are now allowed to enter the City only when fulfilling a valid order and for no more than 20 minutes, otherwise they will be fined 600 rubles. It's important to note that these restrictions apply from the moment of entry.
Many drivers have encountered problems with the system: barriers often fail to respond properly, leading to taxis being abandoned in the area. This forces customers to wait for a long time, sometimes up to 40 minutes.
"To be honest, I also try to avoid trips to Moscow City. Recently, several of my clients waited there for a long 40 minutes. Sometimes, even with a valid order, the barrier can block them," the taxi driver explained, adding that if problems with the barrier arise, drivers are asked to press the call button and show their current order. However, if the client cancels the order once the driver arrives, they are left without proof of the order, which incurs a 600-ruble fine.
In addition, frequent system failures in the Moscow City area cause long traffic jams.
Representatives of Moscow Parking explained the introduction of the new rules as a desire to "optimize the flow of cars and minimize traffic jams."
