On September 22, the specialized channel “Skyscrapers” published photos from the TOP TOWER construction site near Moscow City. A ceremony was held at the site to pour the first cubic meter of concrete—marking the project’s transition to a new phase of construction.
During the ceremony, MR executives laid a time capsule containing a message for future generations. Representatives from TPO “Pride,” the tower’s lead architect, and L.BURO, which is responsible for the landscape design, also addressed the guests. The names of the participants have not yet been officially disclosed.
Why the First Cubic Meter Is an Important Milestone
The ceremony does not mean that construction has only just begun. By July, the pile field and excavation perimeter fencing had already been completed on the site, after which soil excavation and dewatering continued. Rencons is the project’s general contractor.
In this case, the first cubic meter marks the symbolic start of concrete and monolithic work following the preparatory phase. Before the tower begins to rise noticeably above ground, builders must complete the underground section and reach ground level. Earlier, this website reported on the approval of the start of construction for TOP TOWER.
What TOP TOWER Will Be Like
TOP TOWER is a 64-story MR Office skyscraper with a total area of approximately 155,000 square meters. According to the current project specifications, the tower will be 303.3 meters tall, although the 2025 approved architectural design documents listed a height of 299 meters. There has been no public explanation for this discrepancy yet. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2029.
The architectural concept was developed by the Austrian firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. A 2,700-square-meter all-season garden will be located on the roof of the six-story stylobate, and the tower’s evening appearance will be enhanced by lighting designed according to museum lighting principles.
The next major milestone will be the completion of the underground phase: after that, the silhouette of TOP TOWER will begin to rise next to iCITY.
